Oncoplasty

Oncoplasty is a combination of the latest plastic surgery techniques with surgical oncology, typically a lumpectomy or partial mastectomy. When a procedure is required to remove cancer that will alter the shape of the breast, the remaining tissue is sculpted to restore the breast. The opposite breast will also be modified to allow for a symmetrical appearance. The cancer will be removed and the plastic surgery completed during the same surgery.

There are many benefits to having oncoplastic surgery at the time of the lumpectomy or partial mastectomy. Oncoplasty allows for a larger amount of tissue to be removed, which is helpful when the tumor being excised is large. Breast symmetry can be retained. Oncoplasty requires only one surgery instead of separate surgical oncology and reconstruction procedures.

“Dr. Madry is the best surgeon for breast cancer patients, he did an amazing job – oncoplastic surgery on my second breast. I can only wish to have known him before my breast cancer saga had begun 3 years ago! But never too late, and Thanks to Dr.Madry – I’m doing great! ” – HG
